Last night Brooklyn mentioned that she had a surprise she couldn't tell me. Well, I have my ways and got it out of her. She said that she was going to go to Antarctica and that she would miss me and that she needed to take snow clothes because it is really cold there. I realize she means her class is doing this. They have done something similar before where they pretend they go to different places and learn about it. Okay I say that will be fun. " No Really Mom, will you miss me. Should I tell Dad?" We keep talking and I realize she really thinks this time they are getting on a real plane and going to Antarctica. Now this morning I hope she will forget about it because I don't want to dig out the snow clothes. As we are rushing out the door she takes and extra pair of pants and her jacket and warm winter coat. In the car I try to break it to her gently that it is just pretend, her teacher would not take all of them with out permission from parents and so on. Just as she gets out of the car she says "I am going to give you extra love just in case we really go." She kisses me and says I love you with so much sincerity and then does the same to Addy. Then she notices she doesn't have socks on and looks at me with her big desperate eyes and says mom can I use your socks I really need them. So, I take off my socks.
Check back soon for an update on the travels to Antarctica!

ReplyDeleteHi! Glad you have a blog! :) That is so funny! You are such a good mom Edee!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me [the sock part], of when Paul got wet cold feet at a soccer game and I handed my socks over to him. What mom's won't do.
ReplyDeleteSo was Brooklyn really disappointed after school, when she didn't go to Antarctica?
I love this post!
